Dr. Bawumia for NPP running
mate?
Snippets of information from
sources close to the NPP flag-bearer indicate he has settled
on the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu
Bawumia as his running mate.
According to Joy News, Nana Akufo-Addo has finally chosen
the Banker over about eight others whose names came up for
the position. |

The
44-year-old Bawumia is due to be presented to the National
Executive Committee of the party tomorrow, Thursday.
In a subtle confirmation of the choice, the Communication
Director of the NPP campaign team, Dr. Arthur Kennedy said
the party’s flag-bearer had been looking for a technocrat
for the job.
He told Joy News that Nana Addo wanted a candidate that
could partner him effectively.
The NPP presidential candidate will however have a difficult
time defending his decision.
The Chairman of the party’s campaign team in the Central
Region earlier issued a stern warning that he will not
support the selection of Dr. Bawumia.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong said he will not campaign for the party
with a running mate who is fairly unknown in the party.
According to him, the party ought to reward loyalty by
choosing a person who has toiled for the party.
For him, the Deputy Bank of Ghana Governor does not fit that
bill.
Dr. Bawumia, the son of a prominent politician from the
Northern Region was born on 7th October 1963.
He is married with three children.
